Private npm Registry -- Nodejitsu

npm <3s you. So does Nodejitsu. We recently launched simple, hosted private npm registries and we need your help to make them better!

npm is the place for the world’s JavaScript. That includes your proprietary, production code. So let us know what you want. And we’ll make it a reality!

Help us make our hosted private npm registry better!

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

    • Finish modularisation of npm client

This would allow much easier systems for automation, caching and experimentation. https://github.com/ForbesLindesay/npm-fetch is a long way along the way, but still needs an investment of time and energy.

      • Fix native code compilation

Make native code compilation be something that nobody ever notices, because it never breaks. Also, it shouldn't write anything to the log unless it goes wrong.

          • Provide a transparent cache to run on my local network

All publish requests should still go to the public NPM, but all GET requests should be cached within the organisation so that only one person needs to get each resource from the public internet.

            • Public code search or static-analysis

All of the packages in the public npm are also stored in Manta, making it relatively straight-forward to index them with a static-analysis tool like esprima.

We could do this for private packages as well without depending on Manta.

We could even expose this feature publicly!
